A regional architecture firm with 70 users in 3 locations and several highly mobile employees needed an upgraded voice application that would meet the demands of a fast-paced, distributed environment. Moreover, multiple architects in the field needed to be able to communicate immediately with the firm’s offices and clients. VoIP met all of these requirements.
Today, the firm’s employees are able to identify callers automatically from an MS Outlook screen popup. Employees have access to voicemail, call forwarding, and six-way conference calling. With automatic call forwarding, employees are able to transfer calls to their car phones to ensure they are immediately available to clients throughout the workday.
Furthermore, VoIP technology facilitated interoffice communications by enabling employees to use four-digit dialing and to transfer, conference, pick up, park, and intercom between sites. Staff productivity increased dramatically, and elimination of outside conferencing services reduced long-distance expenses by 50 percent. In addition, the distributed architecture has resulted in 100% uptime performance and increased system availability.
